What car hire really costs in Seychelles (2026 prices)

Seychelles has a reputation for eye-watering prices, but car hire is the exception — it's one of the best-value things you can buy on the islands. Here's exactly what it costs and where the catches hide (elsewhere).

Daily rates on Mahé in 2026

Rates fall for longer rentals in practice — a week in a hatchback runs about €315, which is less than most single day-tours for two.

What's included (with us, everything)

The extras, priced honestly

A collision damage waiver that brings your excess to zero is €20/day; a fitted child seat €10/day; hotel delivery or collection anywhere on Mahé €15 flat. None are compulsory. Rentals are charged per 24 hours from your pick-up time — an extra hour rolls into a new day, so a 10:00→10:00 rental is exactly the days you'd expect.

Running costs while you're here

Petrol is roughly SCR 25–30/litre and a small car sips it — a full loop of the island uses about a quarter tank. Parking is free at nearly every beach and trailhead; only central Victoria has paid car parks on weekdays. There are no toll roads in Seychelles.

The fees to watch for (industry-wide)

Wherever you rent, ask about: young-driver surcharges (we simply set a minimum age of 21), fuel policies (ours: return it as you got it), after-hours fees (our airport hand-over is 24/7 and free) and card surcharges. If a quote looks dramatically cheap, one of those is usually hiding in it. The price you see on our site is the price you pay — that's the whole pricing policy.
